CoinHive has escalated in the world of mining<\/a>, going from being the sixth to the first malware most used by cryptomime miners. In December, CoinHive replaced RoughTed as the most prevalent threat; according to the cybersecurity firm.<\/p>\n

The top 10 malware used to mine crypto coins so far are: CoinHive, Rig EK, Cryptoloot, Roughted, Fireball, Globeimposter, Ramnit, Virut, Conficker, Rocks.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What is CoinHive and how does it work with crypto currencies?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

CoinHive, is a new platform that offers a JavaScript miner for Monero Blockchain; you can insert it in your website in several ways. Your users or visitors run the miner directly in their browser once they enter the web and extract XMR.<\/p>\n

Coinhive provides website owners and operators with a JavaScript code that they can insert into their site. This code covertly uses the processing power of the visitor’s computer to extract the crypto currency Currency (XMR). This crypto-minator<\/a> allows for a win-win situation; because Coinhive keeps a portion of the extracted amount and the website owner keeps the rest.<\/p>\n

The reason why it is one of the favorite crypto currencies among cryptomoney miners<\/a> is that XMR allows to hide the sender, the recipient and the amount of each transaction made with this token.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Similarly, CoinHive has designed several ways to use its mining code so that users can create strategies<\/a> to increase their profits; as well as to adapt them to their projects. Here are two of the most commonly used ways:<\/p>\n

CAPTCHA VALIDATOR<\/h5>\n

With a design very similar to Google captcha, CoinHive allows us to implement it as work validations. What this captcha does is mine monkeys while the user waits for the captcha to be validated. Simple!<\/p>\n

Another good way to generate money with Coinhive is through its link shortening system.\u00a0This way of working follows the same dynamic that we already know; only instead of showing advertising you will undermine your users.<\/p>\n
